Pregnancy & Postpartum Counseling

Having a baby is one of the most exciting and challenging experiences in life. While there are often many positive emotions that come with pregnancy and postpartum, people are often surprised by the difficulties that can arise as well. Postpartum depression has gotten a lot of attention in the media recently, which has, thankfully, significantly raised awareness about the issue. However, the mental health struggles that come with having a baby are often more complicated than we can imagine. Postpartum anxiety, Psychosis, OCD, Bipolar Disorder, and PTSD all exist, in addition to depression. Men, or non-birthing partners, can also experience postpartum mental health struggles. Additionally, many difficulties begin during pregnancy, long before the baby has arrived, and can complicate the birth process. Each of these struggles can be detrimental to the health of the whole family unit if they are not addressed.

So what can you do when the baby blues seem to be turning into something more? Counseling can help! Trained counselors are equipped to walk with you through the emotions and challenges that come with adding a new member to the family. Call today to learn more about how Plano Counseling Center can help you get back to the best version of you.
